La Paz is the capital of Baja California Sur. It is a beautiful city, full of contrasts throughout its landscapes. The gorgeous beaches separate the land from the sea with a colorful palette that impacts the eye and creates images that you will forever remember. The Bay of La Paz is renowned for the tranquility of its waters, the daily sunrises and sunsets are spectacular to witness and along with the warmth and friendliness of the people who call it home, makes La Paz a worldwide destination for tourism, retirement, fun and relaxation.

La Paz is a modern city with all the charm of a genuine centuries old Mexican town. The Malecon is a beautifully designed and unique boardwalk, where many tourist shop, restaurants and hotels line one side of the street and on the water side (the Bay of La Paz) the Malecon has a designated bike path, gorgeous sculptures, beaches, and local artist art work the entire length of its 5 kilometers.

There are many areas of the city where old Mexican charm exsist as it did decades ago and you will find some of the best shopping and taco stands in all of Baja. But the town has also progressed to be a modern big city of over 250,000 inhabitants. Internet and cellular service are as good as any found in the U.S. . Most large store and restaurant chains have also found there way to La Paz. Medical and Dental facilities are modern and well staffed. The airport is first class and the highway infrastruture is well built and runs well enough to never find rush hour traffic in any kind of jam, morning or evening everything runs smoothly.

Some of the most beautiful beaches can be found within 15 minutes of downtown La Paz. Playa Balandra is consided one of the most gorgeous beaches in all of Mexico. Just north of the city, accessable only by boat, is Isle Espiritu Santo and Isle Partida, both lined with cove after cove of perfect white sand beaches. Swim with playful sealions or snorkel along side a 35ft whaleshark. You can also just take in the sun and scenery on the beaches of these volcanic formed islands where the turquoise sea meets the white sand beaches which end as the red volcanic rock rises upwards and green cactus growns out of its many ledges and hiking trails. All under the clearest of blue skies. The contrast in colors is breath taking.
